I took out my iPhone, Googled the monitor, and did a little research. On a recent trip to my local Costco, I was strolling through the computer aisle when I saw the LG 34UM58 34-inch monitor on the shelf. However, that idea changed quickly over the holidays. At first, I was thinking that I would take the remaining ViewSonic out of the mix and get two more 23-inch monitors. I limped along with the LG and one ViewSonic while I was deciding what to do. This was a very satisfying setup until one of the ViewSonic monitors bit the dust. Until recently, my most recent multiple-monitor configuration consisted of three monitors-a 23-inch wide screen monitor (LG E2350V) flanked by two 21.3-inch monitors (ViewSonic VP211b).

Rather than maximizing and minimizing windows to switch between applications, I simply glance from one monitor to the other. One of the biggest advantages I find to a multiple-monitor configuration is the amount of time and effort I save when doing any type of multitasking, such as running multiple applications.

This has historically been remarkably popular on consoles, which until the 2000s did not have access to the Internet or any other network and is less common today with modern support for online console-to-console multiplayer support. In its most easily understood form, a split screen for a two-player video game is an audiovisual output device (usually a standard television for video game consoles) where the display has been divided into two equally sized areas so that the players can explore different areas simultaneously without being close to each other. The split screen feature is commonly used in non- networked, also known as couch co-op, video games with multiplayer options. The split screen technique can also be used to run two instances of an application, possibly with another user interacting with the other instance.
The original non-dynamic split screens differed from windowing systems in that the latter always allowed overlapping and freely movable parts of the screen (the " windows") to present related as well as unrelated application data to the user, while the former were strictly limited to fixed non-overlapping positions.

TV sports used this presentation methodology in the 1960s for instant replay. This is done to allow the simultaneous presentation of (usually) related graphical and textual information on a computer display.
Split screen is a display technique in computer graphics that consists of dividing graphics and/or text into adjacent (and possibly overlapping) parts, typically as two or four rectangular areas.
